  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter For sautéing vegetables.
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour To thicken the sauce.
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream or milk Use milk for a lighter option.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cook the spaghetti or egg noodles according to package instructions, then drain well and set aside.
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the sliced mushrooms and frozen peas, cooking until heated through, about 3-5 minutes.

Cooking

  • Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  • Gradually pour in the chicken broth while continuously stirring to avoid lumps.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • Add the shredded turkey, dried thyme, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to the skillet; mix until well combined.

Assembly and Baking

  • In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the turkey sauce mixture, stirring to coat evenly.
  • Transfer the combined ingredients to a greased baking dish and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.

Notes

To make this dish healthier, consider using whole wheat pasta and increasing the vegetable content. It can also be customized by using different proteins or cheeses.
